Itinerary

Day 1Kolkata - Sundarban; Boat Safari

Pick up from your Kolkata hotel or airport in the morning. Drive from Kolkata to Gadhkhali through the rural countryside. 105 km, 3.5 hr.
Transfer to our motorized boat at Gadhkhali jetty. From Gadhkhali jetty head straight to the forest of Sundarban. Visit the Sudhyanyakhali Watchtower. Explore the creeks of Sudhyanyakhali and Banobibir Bharani. You may be able to spot Jungle Cat, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, and several species of birds. Stay inside the forest till sunset. Enjoy the landscape as you cruise through the rivers of Sundarban.

Lunch will be freshly prepared and served on the boat. After a full day in the forest, check in at the resort in the evening.

After dinner, our naturalist will take you on a nocturnal tour around the village. You may be able to spot different species of frogs, Barn Owls, and nightjars.

Overnight at the resort in Sundarban.

Day 2Sundarban Boat Safari

Leave the resort early in the morning and embark on a full-day jungle cruise in our motorized boat. Breakfast will be served on the boat.
During the day, you will explore the flora and fauna of Sundarban by cruising through the innumerable creeks and canals of Sundarban. You can get down from the boat and walk inside the forest only at the designated watchtowers of Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, and Dobanki. During the cruise, you might spot Saltwater Crocodiles, Water Monitor Lizard, Spotted Deer, Rhesus Macaque, Small-clawed Otter, dolphin, and several birds. Marvel at the mangroves and their unique root systems as the boat navigates through the creeks of Bonobibir Bharani, Pirkhali, Gaji Khali, and Choragaji Khali. This is the best way to experience the mangroves of Sundarban. There will also be an effort to track the tiger. Our team will try to spot pugmarks of the tiger left on the soft mangrove mud and scan areas where the probability of sighting is high. The search may result in a failure but it will provide an idea about the movements of the tiger. Accordingly, the route for the next two days will be determined.

Lunch will be freshly cooked and served on the boat. In the evening, return back to the resort. Enjoy the sunset on the river from the boat while you sip your evening cup of tea.

After dinner, venture out with our naturalist in search of Barn Owls, Large-tailed Nightjars, and other nocturnal creatures.

Overnight at the resort in Sundarban.

Day 3Sundarban Boat Safari

Leave the resort early in the morning and board our motorized boat. Early mornings and evenings are the best time to spot the tiger. Also, the bird activity and other mammal activity will be high in the morning. You may even find an Estuarine Crocodile basking in the morning sun.
Breakfast will be served on the boat.
As the day will progress, the sighting frequency will dip with minimal animal activity in the afternoon. However, our team will be scanning the forests for signs of the tiger. Tigers in Sundarban are mostly spotted from the boat while it crosses the river. With a bit of luck and timing, you may spot a tiger.

Lunch will be freshly prepared and served on the boat. You will return back to the resort after sunset.

Overnight at the resort in Sundarban.

Day 4Sundarban Boat Safari; Transfer to Kolkata

Check out from the resort early in the morning and board our boat for another full day safari inside the mangroves of Sundarban. Breakfast will be served on the boat.
If a tiger has not been sighted in the earlier three days, we will intensify the search for the tiger and explore new parts of the forest. In the process, you may also come across rare mammals like Fishing Cat, Leopard Cat, Small-clawed Otters, and Irrawady Dolphins. You may also spot rare birds like the Buffy Fish Owl and the Ruddy Kingfisher.

Lunch will be freshly cooked and served on the boat. In the evening, the boat will drop you at the Gadhkhali Jetty where our vehicle will be waiting for you. The vehicle will drop you at your hotel in Kolkata or at the airport.
